Dr. Barbara Pate Glacel

Dr. Barbara Pate Glacel is an executive coach and organizational consultant with thirty years experience working with leaders and organizations around the world. She is a senior associate at the Center for Creative Leadership, working at their North America, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific campuses. She also maintains a private executive coaching practice. Previously she was the chief executive officer of VIMA International — The Leadership Group, General Manager at Hay Systems, Incorporated, and a professor of business and political science at the University of Alaska. Her professional pursuits have encompassed research, academic instruction, and practical application of business and political theories of human behavior and performance.
Dr. Glacel earned her bachelors degree in government from the College of William and Mary, her masters degree in human relations and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Oklahoma. She is active at the College of William and Mary as an advisor to the Reves Center for International Affairs and served as Vice President on the Alumni Board of Directors. She was awarded William and Mary’s alumni medallion, the highest award presented to an alumnus for professional excellence, community service, and service to the College.
She is the author of three books and hundreds of articles on leadership, teams, management practices and policy analysis. She is a frequent public speaker and has appeared on radio and television on four continents.
Dr. Glacel was appointed to the U.S. Army Science Board, participating in the competition in contracting study and chairing the research study on the relationship between family well-being and readiness. She was appointed to Secretary of Defense William Perry’s quality of life task force, traveling to military bases around the world to assess quality of life. She was vice chair of the Equality Management Committee of the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services under Secretary William Cohen.
She served as Vice President of the Instructional Systems Association, an industry trade association. She is Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of the Chesapeake Broadcasting Corporation, Maryland.
She has been recognized for her contributions to the military by receiving the Department of the Army Commander’s Award for Public Service, The Department of Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Award, the Department of the Army FORSCOM Award, and the Department of the Army Civilian Service Award.
